Silver screen for Black-Eyed Susans!

Voltage Pictures, the Oscar-winning company behind The Hurt Locker and Dallas Buyers Club, is in advanced negotiations with director Rod Lurie’s Battleplan Productions to bring Black-Eyed Susans to the big screen.

The picture will be co-produced by Battleplan, Lurie’s company with partner Marc Frydman, and Voltage’s Nic Chartier, known for his risk-taking Oscar flicks. Chartier is also behind the chilling thriller Wind River.

The Black-Eyed Susans screenplay was written by The Contender writer/director Lurie and his wife, New York Times bestselling author Kyra Davis. The two read Julia’s novel on their honeymoon and decided to make it their first writing project together.

Lurie’s previous credits include the Straw Dogs remake with James Marsden and Kate Bosworth, Nothing but the Truth with Kate Beckinsale and Matt Dillon, The Last Castle with Robert Redford and James Gandolfini, and The Contender with Jeff Bridges and Joan Allen, who were both nominated for Oscars for their roles. He also created the TV series Commander in Chief. Davis wrote the bestselling novel Just One Night and is known for her Sophie Katz series.

Julia will be an executive producer on the project.
